Honestly, I don’t know if I want a blog or if it will last. I just want to share all the photos that I don’t on Instagram. Also the stories behind them. I guess that means I want to start a blog.
Because it’s the new year, here’s a tryingly brief yet wordy recap of a year of photography:
January 2018 - I was home from school on winter break with nothing to do so, I decided to take my camera off automatic settings and teach myself how to really use it, and how to edit photos on something other than VSCO (not that there’s anything wrong with that). I still don’t really know what I’m doing but learning’s fun right!? Also a year isn’t all that long. And when I say teach myself I mean watch a million YouTube videos.
Then I started making all my friends model for me which I did before but now I was actually trying. Then I kind of went in head first and started shooting other people - I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I didn’t think about the fact that I was gonna have to talk to people and really be in charge and if you know me you know I like do my own thing but I’m very uncomfortable in any kind of leadership position and I’m not great at speaking in any situation and can go a very long time without speaking, but that’s a whole other story.
Moving on. I’d like to think my people skills are slightly better. Maybe. And the more I do it the more fun it becomes and the less anxious I get about messing something up (so far only one major fiasco). And that brings us to now. Kind of one year in and winging it.
Here’s a very large handful of photos I haven’t shared spanning the entirety of 2108 that I would never get around to sharing otherwise, some of which I love and some of which I think are horrible pictures - the reason they’re included is because I think it’s important to be aware of your mistakes to improve - I tried my best not to add too many.
To whoever’s reading this, thanks, you didn’t have to. Here’s to another year of creativity and growth.
